Census

by Corey - July 12th, 2010

I know the census is important, but do I have to get visited 3 times? Two of those times for the house that has been demolished next door and I had to serve as a proxy! Is there an online census I missed because I should have done that and if not, then why not. Couldn’t we the census card online? Do they have to show up and verify that they are talking to a live person who supposedly lives there? I mean, they don’t ask for ID or anything, so how do they know it is even really me?

It would be great and less interruptive to my naps, either I nap a lot or they have horrible timing, if I could just log on and fill out a virtual census card from the comfort of my home! Then wouldn’t it also be more efficient if they only visited those residences that failed to complete the online registration. It seems to make more sense, at least to me, to do it that way and save everyone z lot of time and nap interruption!

This is what Gatorade had to say today:
“We no longer see a role for Tiger in our marketing efforts and have ended our relationship,” a Gatorade spokeswoman said. “We wish him all the best.”

As far as hydration goes you think they’d be proud, Tiger was obviously well hydrated!

Is Bipartisanship Even Possible?

by Corey - February 26th, 2010

This whole healthcare debacle has not only has Capitol Hill divided, but the country as well. The latest Gallop shows 46% of Americans want a health care bill passed this year, 50% want nothing done at all, link. So this tests the question on bipartisanship and if it is even possible.

The Dems, and Obama, have been calling for bipartisanship in the health care bill since the inception, but what they really mean is they want the Republicans to cave and agree with them. They don’t want to make any bipartisan compromises, but neither do the Republicans. And why should they. They have their jobs because the American people elected them to represent them as their job. So if their constituents are against the bill then why should they be for it, and vice versa?

Say for a second the simple example, which may actually be true, that the people/states for the health care bill are blue states and those against it are red states. They are divided amongs themselves. So if the people of Congress are doing their jobs and representing these people then it only makes sense they would be divided as well. This makes bipartisanship very unlikely. Agreed?

If one side was to fold and compromise on an issue against the majority of their state, then not only are they not doing their job, but they would likely lose their job. And let’s face it, once the bill is passed, it is much harder to modify it once it exists. So this really throws out the adage of vote out your Congressman or Senator if they don’t please you, because they have already committed the damage. So until the Country becomes more agreeable then bipartisanship is out the window!
